Organised by the Young PAP Professional Network, YP comrades recently visited the Resorts World Sentosa Integrated Resort on 9th January 2010.  Led by Chairman of Young PAP, Comrade Teo Ser Luck, a delegation of 45 YP comrades visited the Hard Rock Hotel, Festive Hotel, Crockfords Tower, Hotel Michael and Universal Studios Singapore.

Online booking of the hotels (with the exception of Crockfords Tower, as it is by invitation only) has since started on Monday, 11 Jan and the hotels will be open to the public from 20 Jan onwards.  Employees are already staying at these hotels and the lobbies were bustling with activities. Retail stores such as Victoria Secrets, Coach and Swarovski Crystal line the Galleria and stocks are already being laid out in the stores.

In line with the concept of a family-oriented resort, the Management of Resorts World Sentosa explained that the Integrated Resort is designed as a collection of resorts within a resort so that visitors can have a multi-resort experience.  Therefore, each hotel in the Integrated Resort presents an unique theme in catering to different market segments of family-resort visitors.

The educational tour of the Universal Studios Singapore has given YP comrades a good understanding of how Resorts World Sentosa aims to play a contributory role in Singapore’s tourism strategy.  Rides testing such as the Battlestar Galactica, the world’s tallest dueling coasters, were in full swing and the tour ended with a show at the WaterWorld, a live action water stunt show.

Slated to be Asia’s largest family destination, the Integrated Resort on Singapore’s Sentosa island will house the region’s only Universal Studios theme park, boast 24 attractions with 18 attractions newly designed for Singapore.

One of the participants working in a shipping company, Ms Lim Huey Yih pointed out that, “The tourism trends of Singapore are subjected to the changes of the wider global socio-economic environment. Thus Singapore’s tourism policies and strategies are required to correspond to the global forces influencing trends in worldwide tourism and economic development, as well as to respond to local factors such as changing social conditions of Singaporeans. ‘’

Packed with thrilling rides and a dazzling array of leisure attractions offering fascinating experiences.  Resorts World Sentosa will be a mesmerizing family resort, further establishing Singapore as a tourism hub.
