Zaqy Mohamad

Zaqy joined politics as a Member of Parliament (MP) in 2006. He is currently serving his second term as MP for Chua Chu Kang GRC. Zaqy is presently the Chairman of the Chua Chu Kang Town Council and Vice-Chairman of the South-West CDC Council. He presently serves in the Public Accounts Committee and GPCs for MTI, MOM and MCYS.

In his first term as MP, Zaqy served as Chairman for GPC for Information, Communication and the Arts. He also pursues various community interests as Advisor with the Union for Transport Workers, Union for ITE Staff and the Association of Small and Medium Businesses (ASME) Feedback Group.

Married with three children, Zaqy has a strong interest in concerns of the working population, social development & cohesiveness and Singapore’s economic agenda.

Zaqy graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic) from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and subsequently acquired a Masters of Science (Financial Engineering) and a postgraduate Certificate in Computational Finance. During his undergraduate days, he served two terms as the President of the NTU Students’ Union and championed for student welfare and financial assistance programmes for needy students.

Zaqy started his career in 1999 in business consulting with Arthur Andersen and subsequently in IBM. In 2005, he joined Avanade as Regional Director. Zaqy currently works for Dimension Data Singapore, a global technology company of NTT Group, as a Sales Head.
