Dr Intan Azura 

Dr. Intan Azura Mokhtar is a Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC since 2011. She is an Assistant Professor in Policy and Leadership Studies in the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She is the advisor for the YP Community Sub-Committee 

Dr. Intan graduated with a Physics degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and later went on to do a Postgraduate Diploma in Education in NIE. She also obtained a Master of Science and Ph.D in Information Studies from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WSCI) in NTU and was also conferred a Master in Public Administration (MPA) by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS. 

Dr Intan has also been extremely dedicated in serving the community: Dr. Intan started doing volunteer work in 2006, first with Mendaki, thereafter the Singapore Muslim Women’s Association (PPIS), and then The Singapore Children’s Society. At Mendaki, Dr. Intan helped out in the Scholarships Interview Panel and Empowerment Programme for Girls. 

At PPIS, Dr. Intan sat on the Board, while at The Singapore Children’s Society, she was an Advisor in the Research Committee. Intan was also appointed as Council Member of MUIS from August 2010 to March 2011. 

Dr. Intan is married with three children – two boys and a girl.
