Desmond Lee

Advising the YP Empower sub-committee will be Desmond Lee, who works in Temasek and is a Member of Parliament for Jurong GRC since 2011. He is also a core member of the leadership team in YP Network.

Desmond began his career as a Justices’ Law Clerk of the Supreme Court, providing legal research support. He next served as a Deputy Public Prosecutor and State Counsel in the Criminal Justice Division of the Attorney General’s Chambers, where he assisted in conducting criminal prosecutions and appeals.

Desmond was subsequently posted to the Ministry of Health to head its legal department, where he provided legal advice to the Ministry and participated in the review of healthcare legislation. Before leaving government service, he was working in the Legal Policy Division of the Ministry of Law as Deputy Director, where he was involved in the development of legal policies and the review and amendment of various pieces of legislation, such as the Criminal Procedure Code.

Desmond received his education at Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College; following this, he graduated in 2001 from the National University of Singapore with first class honours in law, and obtained a Masters degree in law at the University of Oxford in 2005. Desmond is married, with 2 children.
