Alex Yam

An advisor for the YP Network team, Alex Yam is the Member of Parliament for Chua Chu Kang GRC from 2011. His commitment to serving in youth-related organisations is evident in his professional work: he heads the Strategies & Planning/Youth Lab group of Young NTUC, which he joined in 2006 as a pioneer member of the youth unit. He now oversees the development of young activists and helps chart the engagement with young workers.

Prior to joining politics, Alex was serving heavily in community-related organisations such as Comcare Local Network. He was also Vice-Chairman of the North West CDC Arts & Culture Standing Committee since 2009. He is also active with CDAC, serving on the Board from 2010 and promotes education as a member of the Student Education & Development Committee.

Alex believes that at the core of every society is the family. Guided by this principle, Alex values the time that he gets to spend with his family and fiancée. He also enjoys community work, cooking, cycling, photography, singing and slow walks in the park
