BUDGET 2010: SOME MUSINGS ON INCOME TAX

After Monday night’s MPS at the Hong Kah North branch, I found myself interacting as usual with branch comrades, and not surprisingly the main topic of conversation was the 2010 Budget, which had just been unveiled that afternoon by Finance Minister Tharman. Not having had a chance to watch the afternoon’s proceedings or catch the news, my first question was, ‘Are we getting another income tax rebate this year?’, thinking, of course, of last year’s generous tax relief measure adopted as an antidote to the woes of the then raging economic crisis.

My thoughts on new US ambassador to Singapore

As everyone has heard by now, new US Ambassador-to-be to Singapore, Mr David Adelman, has gone on record as saying that in his new position, he intends ‘to use public diplomacy to work towards greater press freedoms, greater freedom of assembly and ultimately more political space for opposition parties in Singapore to strengthen Singapore into a multi-party democracy.’

16th January 2010 marked the first successfully community service project of the year organized by YP East Coast Region and YP Community volunteers and friends of YP, for the beneficiaries from the Association of People with Special Needs (APSN) – Centre for Adults to a bowling trip.
